Yesterday I was totally immersed in a work of a cinematographer Alun Bollinger on Peter Jackson's Heavenly Creatures (1994). His bold experimentation with colors, framing, wide angle lenses, and hand held operating is truly a work of art. Especially I love the strong contrast of unnatural colors. It certainly drives the viewer to a whole another narrative experience. The visual style felt very much influenced by the work of one of the cinematographers I admire the most - Vittorio Storaro.
The pictures hardly speak for the whole film, but it could give you a sense of Bollingers's mastery.

The film is definitely worth watching not only for its strong visual content, but also for good directing, story, excellent acting performance, music, special effects, and so on... For movie lovers it's a must see. On the other hand, I cannot guarantee the mainstreem lovers will come out satisfied.
