I'm sitting in a bar, relaxing, I just had a perfect cup of espresso, and the wonderful aftertaste is still dominating my taste buds. All of a sudden a waiter appears, interrupts my daydreaming, and while taking away my empty cup, asks me politely: ''Would you like anything else, sir?''
Since he is soon about to leave me sitting by an empty table like a fool, I don't have anything else to respond but: ''Eeergh...just the bill, please.''
Why would anyone want to make his customers feel unwanted? Espresso is drunk in a minute or two, does that mean that I have to get up and leave right after that?! I want to enjoy the whole routine of drinking coffee in a bar. The whole price I payed for, which includes sitting for some time and contemplating about the coffee I just drank, or life, or films, or women that are passing by, or just about anything.
And it's certainly not just that. An empty cup of coffee is like an exhausted beautiful woman lying next to you right after amazing sex. She is powerlessly observing you and admiring you for how good it was. She can't even move or say anything, but she has that divine smile on her face. She is still in heaven, and so are you. She is a reminder of a wonderful experience you just had. She is the reason why you always want to come back for more.
And than a stupid, careless waiter comes and ruins it all... A bar like that will never see me again. That's for sure!
